About Courtney

Courtney Kerr is Senior Vice President and National Private Client Practice Leader at Brown & Riding, where she is building and leading the firm’s Private Client business nationwide. She oversees strategy, underwriting standards, facility development, and key market relationships, positioning Brown & Riding as a premier partner for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth personal risk solutions. Courtney serves as a Lloyd’s coverholder and the central underwriting authority for the Private Client practice. She is known for designing thoughtful, profitable solutions rather than standard placements, with particular expertise in complex exposures such as high-value homes, fine art, collections, and other significant lifestyle assets. Courtney partners closely with retail brokers to solve nuanced risks and deliver highly customized outcomes for affluent individuals, families, and collectors, reflecting both her technical depth and her vision for a best-in-class private client team and platform.

Courtney began her insurance career with PURE Insurance in Charleston, SC, drawn to the industry’s blend of creative problem-solving, complex situational analysis, and meaningful client impact. She then joined MarketScout Corporation and later Novatae Risk Group, where she rose into senior leadership within Private Client Solutions and ultimately served as Senior Vice President before joining Brown & Riding in 2026 to launch its national Private Client Practice.

With more than 15 years of experience, Courtney brings deep expertise in high-net-worth and specialty personal lines, particularly fine art, collectibles, and other complex, high-value risks. She holds CPRM and CISR designations and has been an active leader in the private client insurance community as a founding member of the Council for Insuring Private Clients, where she has previously served in leadership roles, in addition to involvement with WSIA, PRMA, and IIAD. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three dogs – Alfie, Roux, and Poppy – and actively supports animal welfare organizations in her community.
