About Shani
Shani Markus is a Principal, Senior Vice President, and Broker who specializes in construction, products, real estate, and energy. She has forged meaningful, lasting relationships with carriers and retailers based on mutual trust, integrity, and grit. Many of these partnerships have lasted for more than 15 years, and the majority of her business continues to be built through referrals.
Since the start of her insurance career in 2002, Shani has focused exclusively on the wholesale casualty sector. Her extensive wholesale brokerage career includes time at CRC, IMS | London American, and a 15-year tenure at Amwins. She joined Brown & Riding in 2022 and became a shareholder in 2023.
Shani has earned Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations. She actively served on the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Houston Chapter and the board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH) Energy Forum where she later became Chairman. She has also been on the committee for the Houston Marine & Energy Insurance Conference, past Chairman of the Host Committee for the Texas Surplus Lines Association (TSLA), as well as other insurance industry committees.
