About Valerie
Valerie Martin is a Principal, Senior Vice President, and property broker specializing in Real Estate accounts with an emphasis on Habitational business, new and renovation Builder’s Risk, manufacturing, Stock Throughput, wildfire, DIC, and wind deductible buybacks. She joined Brown & Riding in 2017 and assisted in establishing the firm’s Kansas City, Missouri, office.
With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Valerie began her insurance career as a large accounts Casualty underwriter. Since then, she has handled multiple lines of coverage including highly protected risk property and equipment breakdown. She also handled the marketing and underwriting of the “Big I’s” Insurance Agents E&O program for the seven southeast states. After ten years on the underwriting side, she transitioned to wholesale brokerage in 1997 and has specialized in property ever since.
Valerie enjoys solving problems for her clients and helping them win accounts. She values integrity and believes strong, consistent communication is the key to being an effective marketing resource for her agents.
Valerie previously served on the WSIA Events Committee and Education Committee. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.
Valerie is passionate about helping others and enjoys volunteering in her community. She currently serves on the board of Hope to Home, a Charleston-based non-profit that provides home furnishings to those transitioning out of homelessness at no cost to the recipients. She has also previously served as the Board Vice President for Quixotic Foundation in Kansas City, a non-profit foundation providing opportunities for underprivileged children to experience the arts through free workshops, public performances, and interactive experiences. She regularly volunteers through her church serving kids with special needs and their families on Sundays.
