About Valerie
Valerie Martin joined Brown & Riding as a Property Specialist in 2017 where she helped to open the firm’s Kansas City, Missouri office. Valerie began her insurance career as a Casualty Underwriter and has gained valuable insight into the business handling various lines of coverage including HPR Property, Equipment Breakdown and the “Big I’s” Insurance Agents’ E&O program. After ten years on the underwriting side, Valerie realized that her real knack was solving commercial risk challenges so she transitioned to the wholesale side in 1997 and she has been a property broker ever since.
Valerie has enjoyed serving in multiple roles in the non-profit sector including board Vice President of Quixotic Foundation and regularly volunteering with Giving the Basics, Hope to Home Furniture Resource for the Homeless, and the Won by One and Custom Ministries at Seacoast Church. She is also a member of the WSIA Events Committee and previously served on the WSIA Education Committee. Valerie is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.
