About Tyler
Tyler Hughes is an Assistant Vice President and Broker in Brown & Riding’s National Casualty Practice. He specializes in placing General and Excess Liability policies (including annual, project specific, OCIP/CCIP, and an array of other liability accounts) with an emphasis on commercial and residential wrap-ups. He is heavily involved in placing a wide array of projects, ranging from industrial plants, highway expansion projects, stadiums, museum expansions and remodeling, hotel, and mixed-use projects, as well as condo and apartment projects nationwide. As a wholesale broker, Tyler is skilled at dealing with diverse clients, unique insurance products, and complex risk scenarios. Building client trust and understanding their needs is paramount to him, as is working collaboratively with clients to solve complex problems for their insureds.
While studying at the University of Georgia, Tyler first became interested in risk management and insurance because he enjoyed the problem solving and critical thinking challenges that the industry presented. He joined Brown & Riding in 2019 in an entry level position and was promoted to Associate Broker in 2021. He then became a Broker at the end of 2023.
Tyler earned a CRIS designation in 2021. He regularly attends WSIA and IRMI conferences, and he is also an active member of Young Insurance Professionals. He credits his teamwork and competitive drive to his days playing baseball for University of North Carolina – Asheville.
